Tuesday….with colours

The flowers have started!

The survivors of the winter and every year feel like old friends are coming back to stay…

It just makes me very happy to be able to pick my own flowers and work with what appears…A couple of weeks ago the perennial wall flowers were full of buds ( which you can see here in this post ) and now they’ve flowered… and in the early morning they smell amazing…

There is a lot of lush green about at the moment with montbretia, perennial peas and sage giving full leaf before they flower…

The few grape hyacinths I actually have in the ground ( rather than in pots ) are so tall this year…maybe because they’ve been here much longer than me… The Spanish bluebells are just appearing, and pretty soon they’ll have almost taken over the whole garden… The oxalis has suddenly flowered as well, which I think is much earlier than usual…

…and there are loads of forget-me-nots and dandelions in lots of places they shouldn’t be but I’ve been trying to embrace the dandelions rather than get annoyed at their monopoly of the lawn…

…and amazingly the arum lily has appeared! I was a bit worried the plant was all going to die off and then this!…very excited! So…everything on this table was basically ripe for the picking! ( and the Chemex/vase shows all the ends off beautifully too )…as you can probably see, I’m getting massively excited about the months ahead!
