Monday…with Lake District and Landmark Trust reflections

This weekend was my birthday as well as Mother’s Day, and we were lucky enough to be able to visit and stay in one of my favourite places in the world; The Lake District, and I was also given the opportunity by The Landmark Trust  to stay at one of the most beautiful properties called ‘Howthwaite’, so as it was mother’s day, I took my mum and my son as well as my partner!

We had a bit of a nightmare journey up from Brighton and were on the road for about 12 hours ( 3 of which were spent stationary in traffic jams ), so we arrived in the dark…

However the best thing about arriving in the dark is waking up to this…

The views and the whole house are absolutely stunning and we all spent an incredibly relaxing time, just calming down, doing crosswords, jigsaws, walking, reading and breathing in the Lakes… We also went to Dove Cottage in Grasmere  ( Dove Cottage was where poet William Wordsworth lived ), and which it is virtually at the bottom of the garden… Grasmere village is also just a short walk away with tea rooms and shops, but to be honest, I loved Howthwaite so much, I couldn’t wait to get back to have my own cup of tea and a slice of bread ( which is as much a treat for me as cake! )…

And then on Sunday, I was given a dream pair of shoes for my birthday… …but couldn’t believe we had to go home so soon..I am completely desperate to go back to Howthwaite now, but also really curious to stay at some of the other amazing properties the Landmark Trust own. You’ve got to visit their website to have a look at them, as they even have properties in France and Italy, and every place looks incredible…and they also have a beautiful Instagram account here…prepare to feast your eyes on loveliness!
