The Summer St James’s Photowalks…

This Summer I decided to run a couple of photowalks in London in St James’s so that I could share my love of the area with a small group of people, showing them both the well known spots as well as lesser known alleys, architecture, hidden public art, textures, colours and loads of history. My walks were intended to inspire people to look at their surroundings in a slightly different way, take their own unique photos and really engage with the area. I’m not really drawn to ‘insta famous’ backdrops as they always just become a cliché, so I wanted everyone to engage in a strong sense of looking whilst really connecting to the history and specific experience of the day. ( you can read more of the details on this post here ).

I visit St James’s a lot; it’s my go-to central London area, and each time I’m there I always find new places, new nooks, new crannies and so much to inspire me as well as usually coming home with small pieces of the best cheese from Paxton and Whitfield , a crystallised fruit from Fortnum and Mason and occasionally a pair of shoes from Grensons or Trickers!

The walks I hosted were such a lovely experience, especially with a stilton cutting demonstration and tasting from Paxton’s, and some gorgeous testers from Floris, and I’m really hoping to offer a few more later this year, maybe even some Brighton ones…but for now, here’s a collection of images taken on both of the photowalks along with some Pride images. Pride London was happening in the afternoon of my second photowalk and a lot of the St James’s streets were deserted which meant we were able to take photos which would never have been possible on a normal day…

And then there was Pride…

This morning I awoke to the news of a second mass shooting, this time in Ohio, after going to bed still grappling with the news of 20 dead in my state of Texas. Thank you for emailing the gloriously life filled, colorful, peaceful, contemplative photos from your St James walk.

Pride looked colourful and fun, lovely pictures of everything, my favourite is the pink blossom on branches inside the marbled building.
